Charges for accidents at work: Does the company or the worker pay?

The charges related to accidents at work must be assumed by the employer, who is not allowed to discount these costs from the employee's salary, clarifies the Authority for Working Conditions (ACT).

"Did you know that the employer is prevented from deducting from the employee's pay any charges related to compensation for damage caused by accidents at work? It is up to him to ensure these costs, and any agreement to the contrary is null and void", clarifies ACT.

Also according to ACT, the "injured worker or his legal beneficiaries, in the event of death, must report the accident at work, verbally or in writing, within 48 hours to the employer, unless he witnessed it or is already aware of it".
